For an awesome dose of galactic proportions, the guy in the vid below will introduce the mysterious phone that’s been the subject of many online guessing games this month of June 2011. You will notice how he appears to be in 3D. That’s because my site has built in 3D converter for any youtube video I embed…. and I’m the crowned King of Atlantis, ya. The magic happens from 0:38, onwards. Volume up, please!
June 21, 2011 marked the grand launch date for the Samsung Galaxy S II in the Philippines at an SRP of P29,990. For a limited time, however, you can get yourself one at P26,990 if you pre-order from June 24 to June 30, 2011. Go beeline to Jayvee’s site for the complete pre-order mechanics for the Samsung Galaxy S II and get P3,000 off the SRP!

Samsung Galaxy S II's SUPER AMOLED Plus screen
I hesitated a bit to share my snaps of the phone screen because I felt the shots would most certainly not justify the user experience when you are physically holding the unit and flicking away at the interface. The photo above is the closest you will see the Home Screen in all its SUPER AMOLED Plus glory. As a first time user of an Android smart phone and seeing just how responsive the UI is and looking at the vivid display with vibrance so amazingly crisp and bright and BIG, I was seriously blown away.
Know what else works great with screen that big? Playing Angry Birds Rio. I finished playing the first three levels on my N8 but experiencing the graphics in large format made me see details I never before thought existed, like the glistening pulp bits detail on half of the orange fruit behind the “play button,” among everything else. I got peeved with the ads that kept popping often because those were never on the retail version on other mobile operating systems. The experience may have been pleasing to the eyes but the ads made me feel so dirty. Hahaha.
First thing I did the Galaxy S II was set up the push email feature. At work, I have the phone propped beside my laptop and, I tell you, it’s amazing how the phone would beep for incoming mail even before my Google Chrome browser shows me an unread number notification on my laptop (I always zero my personal email inbox is why, haha, OC much?). Now THAT’s email received real time in the purest sense!

Android Gingerbread's nifty shortcut buttons
I’ll show you a sample photo and vid taken using the Samsung Galaxy S II’s 8 megapixel camera in a later post. I’ll then compare it with a same composition but taken with my Canon DSLR. LOL
We talk among ourselves, us contest hosts, and we know who among you have duplicate emails and multiple identities/personas. Hahaha. Still, we’re in a giving mood and we agreed to just make sure we don’t draw same-name grand prize winners. So far, I don’t think there’s been a re-draw anywhere. Here’s a recap the winners I’ve drawn during the first two rounds, the Round 3 winners of the USB baller flash drive, and the grand prize winner of a Samsung Corby II smart phone:
ZOMG “What’s that Phone?” Week 1 Winners (of a 2Gb USB Baller thumb drive each):
- Denn Pablo
- Hideki Beyond
- Joselle Allyssa Frilles
ZOMG “Whuzzat Phone?” Round 2 Winners (of a 2Gb USB Baller thumb drive each):
- Mary Mirasol Manayo
- Mica Sobrepena
- John Peria
What’s THAT Phone? Round 3 Winners (of a 2Gb USB Baller thumb drive each):
- Zyra Anne Perez
- Agnes Dela Cruz
- Teresa Hundana
Grand Prize Winner of a Samsung Corby II (all entries, including those who already won in the weekly rounds were included in the list. Those who sent an entry for each round most definitely had more chances of winning): Aimee Pedayo
Congratulations to the weekly winners and to Aimee! Thanks to everyone who joined and kept on coming back weekly to send in their entries.

Samsung Galaxy S II: Sparkling. This is NOT the Samsung Corby II LOL
Disclosure: This post and the three previous ones are advertorials by Samsung for the Samsung Galaxy S II.

dear, may i ask. is your push email enrolled in what service? smart or globe or sun? prepaid or postpaid. Sam reco’d the phone to me (lost bb and all) and my worry is that these kind of phones (meaning phones aside from BBs and iPhones) doesn’t have a dedicated enrollment service for push email, instant messaging blah blah blah… so pls pls tell me so I know if am gonna buy it :)

Aine, Smart postpaid. With my current plan, I paid 300 more to get push email. Pero kasi current plan ko is 2000 unlimited data. With both, connected na ako any time without the hassle of one day waking up to very bundat phone bill. OK naman sya. Usually, if you activate push email, you should get the push subscription (yung 300 na sinabi ko) because kung hindi, lolobo bill mo and sayang lang. This is a great phone, trust me. I miss na nga the unit Samsung lent. Astig eh.

SII is indeed totally awesome! :)
I ain’t a fan of smartphones as well. If not for my lost cellphone last Toycon, I may not have bought a new one. But now, owning a piece of this is bliss! I love it! (^_^)
The only downside, I guess, is its battery. I have to charge daily! :p
I play a lotta games I guess. But I expected it’d drain after 2 days at least. But given its dual core glory as well, that’s the price I have to pay. LOL. Anyway, it’s still lovely and “astig” I have to say. :D
I guess the write-ups are correct – it has beaten iPhone4. :D
