The new Red Demekin Goldfish is easy to catch. Just use Milk (the white, bottled variety) as bait. Others claim to have used a Lemon, Strawberry, or Cheese but I’ve no luck when I fished with those. As a side, look how they’re arranged int he image above. Reminds me of the kissing aquarium fish we had when we were little. And since we can only keep 5 at a time, look who the 5th one is trying to kiss. LMAO!
There’s another thing that you may catch in the pond: the Sea Slug. As any other “trash” or ornamental item, you can get this one using cheap food as bait (like Apples, Cheese, Lemons, Grapes, Strawberries, Watermelon Slice, etc. Of these, I caught the most Sea Slugs using Lemons, beats me as to why. As shown in the image above, you can display the slugs outside of the aquarium.
One good thing that came up while I was trying to catch the goldfish with milk is I also got to complete my 5-set Catfish (this came out last week). Since Milk is expensive, Play Fish probably programmed it in such a way that you will only catch fish (no trash) when you use it as bait. Did you also get to observe the same thing?

Still working on getting these.
Finally managed to grow some orange and coconut trees. Just waiting for fruit now.
Still no luck with the pirahna and catfish. Newer ones seem tougher to get.
Everything else I have now! Yay!

After around 300 Raw Steaks, I still only have two piranhas, go figure LOL. Use milk for the catfish. :D

Lol, I try fishing for a fish and I never catch it, but somehow, I get something better! Like this! I never even knew of its existance!
