Fake Adidas Pilipinas track jackets from the Internet

The Philippine-Flag-design inspired Adidas Track Jacket has been decommissioned for a reason so it came as a great surprise when ads on sulit.com and several other similar sites came out of this one seller offering a number (with sizes, mind you) going for the same hefty price tag. What? No mark-up considering its rarity? Hmmm…. somthing’s amis.

Would you pay P4,500.00 for a jacket that you find upon close inspection to be fake? What if I didn’t know how to tell the difference? What if I hadn’t tried wearing an original once before? What if I was too excited to pay close attention?

Irvin and I were supposed to get two, one for each of us, from this dude who for this post we’ll name “Koya.” In August, while Irvin is in the US, he requested his friend (uuuuuy!) Samie to get in touch with me so we both can meet up with this Koya character to bind the purchase. I was exited because I wanted to get one badly for the longest time. It was a good thing that Koya was confident enough to let me eye the merchandise before making me pay for them. Originally, the seller wanted to meet me along the Enterprise walkway at 6PM, a busy time on a not-so-well-lit place. I objected because not only would I like to see the jacket, I also wanted to try it on. After some more haggling via SMS, we agreed to reset the meet at an earlier different date.

We met a day prior that of the original rendezvous at the ground floor of his work place in one of the buildings along Ayala. The moment I took the jacket out of it’s plastic covering, it already felt wrong. I tried it on, looked at my reflection from the mirror-like outer finish of the ground floor elevator door (LOLOLOLOLOL, I mentioned elevator), and saw a ghastly formed jacket nobody in their right mind would pay P500 for.

It felt cheap.

I told Koya my observation which he naturally defended. He said his supplier also claimed its authenticity and that we were all “victims” in this.

I told Koya I’m sorry but I won’t get one. Samie, on the other hand, said she’ll take Irvin’s despite all of this because they had already been paid in advance, fearing that she can’t anymore demand for a refund. The next day, after finding out what happened, Irvin contacted Koya saying he will be sending Samie over to return the jacket and that he will be asking for his money back. Koya obliged knowing full well that a lot of people would still kill to get one, anyway.

We nearly got conned and as vengeance, here are photos showing details of the fake jacket. I took these before Samie returned what she got for Irvin.

It’s payback time (insert evil laugh here). We all should not patronize this way of doing business. As your reference, here are clear photos of the fake marchandise for you to look at. Buying them will probably make you want to kick yourself in the face because they are not worth the price tag of the original.

Read Irvin’s post regarding his experience here (with actual links where the fakes are being sold on the internet. SURE WIN!!!).

Please spread the word. Be warned. Don’t get conned!

Nung unang tingin ko sa Philippine Jacket na yan, parang astig (nung hindi ko pa alam na sa Adidas pala nabibili).

Then nung nalaman kong nabibili lang sa Adidas, hehehe, hindi na ako natuwa.

  5. Martin Gomez Says:

hello! er… so, ano raw dapat yung itsura nung orig? (para sa mga hindi pa nakasulyap ng orig) hehe.

  6. Fritz Says:

Good question. http://kingdjlogan.wordpress.com/2007/11/16/adidas-pilipinas-jacket/ compare the details from these pics with the two shown on the link.

  7. Martin Gomez Says:

uy, salamat! zipper … so glaring!

  8. Fritz Says:

  9. albin Says:

they don’t make this jacket anymore. last stocks arrived last march 29, 2008. after that no more. original ph jackets go as high as 15,000pesos. the fake ones, 4.5k. dati 2.3k lang. don’t be fooled. i have both the original and the fake one. madali ma recognize ang fake sa orig. just look at the zipper. it’s the most recognizable difference between the fake one and the original jacket

  10. Jan Says:

  12. Jon Says:

i heard that some shopping malls in the Philippines are selling fakes ones for p2,000.

  13. Hazel Says:

Thanks Fritz for posting this, I almost fell for one ebay seller claiming “authenticity” of the jackets

  14. Hazel Says:

i have checked ebay.ph already and everything being sold is fake according to the photos posted by Fritz and also the guidelines posted by a friend at multiply: http://pamelarose.multiply.com/photos/album/89/ADIDAS_PHILIPPINE_TRACK_JACKET_How_to_Spot_A_Fake

  15. iamcatherine0909 Says:

i bought from ebay also but I am so happy that I got the real one. One ebayer also sent me this link and based on this, I was able to check that mine is authentic. (actually I had already authenticated it with adidas :) )

  16. Jan Says:

Sos, grabe! This one buyer from eBay bought a fake jacket from the same seller I purchased this from. Sabi nya, she had the jackets authenticated at Adidas Trinoma and they said it’s real. How the hell can that be?!? She must have been drugged!!!

  17. Jan Says:

Can you provide us photos? I don’t think you even looked at the photos carefully.

  18. Hazel Says:

I dont even think there are still “new” and “original” Adidas Philippine Track Jackets on eBay since only a limited quantity was produced :\ Some fakes really look similar to the original one with the zipper, embroidery and all but you can still determine that its fake when you check the bottom of the part of the jacket is not supposed to have a “wrinkled” look with the ribbed portion attached.

  19. Hazel Says:

Anyways if an eBayer does claim they had their jackets “authenticated” at Adidas then the seller should agree to meet up with the buyer at an Adidas outlet so ensure that what they are purchasing is indeed authentic. (Just like when you purchase an LV bag from a local seller, they agree to meet up at Louis Vuitton Greenbelt to ensure authenticity)

  20. Fritz Says:

Thanks for the warning and purchase tip, Haze. I also don’t think there are any more originals out there unless of course they were bought from during the times when the original jackets were still available in stores.

  21. Hazel Says:

Anything to help Fritz, daming manloloko out there we just have to be careful. Meron pa naman those selling the orig ones but the price is really high (it even goes up to an overkill price of 7-10K tapos 2nd hand na sya hehe…

  22. loyalarcher Says:

Man, I got conned! I bought a fake jacket at the start. But I still was able to get my hands on the real deal through trade. Thanks, Fritz! This was really helpful.
I know that there are fakes that look nearly like the original being sold, but you can tell the difference. The material of the fake is shiny, and the middle pentagon on the soccer ball logo does not have equally measured sides, and the black tag on the back of the neck is rather different from the original if you really look at the design.

  23. Fritz Says:

You mean you still have the fake with you? Burn it already man! The fake jacket really feels cheap to the touch. Waste of money that. Good that you got an original! I’ve long moved on from wanting one LOL

  24. loyalarcher Says:

Thanks man! Nah, I don’t think I’ll burn it. I’ll sell it for a VERY cheap price to someone who doesn’t care about authenticity.
But dude, if you ever change your mind to going back getting an original, I know a guy selling one. It’s size XL. You can text him in this number, that is if you want it: 09159936693.

  25. Fritz Says:

If ever, I’ll be size S. Thanks for the referral, though. Somebody else who can read your comment might want one badly.

  26. loyalarcher Says:

    alright, man. :-)

  27. kiefer Says:

yah i know the differences of the fakes ones from the orig! i am actually selling real ones for 4000php only! for info & the other item(s) we sell, check my multiply site: kayeandfrancis.multiply.com

  28. Fritz Says:

When I hear somebody claim that they are selling real-authentic-original Adidas Pilipinas track jackets and actually have all sizes available in their inventory, I LOL at their faces. I mean, seriously, how can they? Adidas has stopped importing them eons (read, more than 6 months) ago!

Buyers, beware. P4k is hard earned P4k. Also, with a lot of fakes going around, do we still want to wear something that can be mistaken as a rip off? No, I don’t think so.
    Good luck selling those.

  29. KIEFER Says:

we don’t sell fake jackets, we get them from the suppliers of adidas. yes, adidas has stopped selling but we are selling the ones that are left. so, our jackets are the same items you get from adidas, the only difference is you didn’t buy from adidas but from us. we have had several personal customers before and not one product is rejected because they are 100% authentic, we even order and ship them from the producer in the U.S. so i assure my buyers that my products aren’t fake. i saw the pictures of the fake ones in your site, i agree to those because i don’t like wearing AND selling rip-offs myself. in addition to this, i personally meetup with the buyers BEFORE they order from me so they can actually check the items first.

I am new in multiply, i actually just made the account for our online buyers’ sake. I will post pics of our jackets later on our multiply (kayeandfrancis.multiply.com) so you guys will see the difference between my jackets and the fake track jackets posted on your site. don’t worry, i will get pictures of every detail of our jacket (the stripes, back logo, sun, stars, pocket, zipper, tags). So Sir, please check my multiply account so u will see the pics yourself. and i hope that u will stop doubting. please contact me after you have checked my multiply account mr. fritz, this is kiefer by the way. hope to connect with you soon.
Guys, we don’t CLAIM we’re selling authentic jackets, WE ARE.

  30. Hazel Says:

I totally agree with you Fritz.

@keifer-are you willing to meet up at any Adidas outlet to authenticate the track jackets before purchasing?

  31. buknoy Says:

sus , just ignore all the people who is selling jackets the are fake as in AAA fake and every track jacket made with addidas has a serial number and a barcode just check it if you still dare to buy….and please dont claim that ur merchendise came from the US…phew…baka sa patahian lng ng basketball jerseys yan…

  32. Hazel Says:

Oh well, I gave up on finding an original one already. My cousin in the US wants one badly and I have been trying to find one for him…but I’m not that desperate to shell out 4K for a fake one, oops for a fake one that claims to be original LOL…

  33. james Says:

this is the link where that guy from pacland got his story. were selling adidas flag jacket, but not this one featured here. as much as i hate cheap and substandard quality products because i myself is a consumer too, pero i think that guy from pacland and a few people are quite easy to make conclusions and judgments. we have visited greenhills and we have seen these type of fake adidas jackets. please try to be more discriminate because there are some people who are trying to earn an honest living. i have several clients that are satisfied with our merchandise. we will not claim something that is not what its actually is because thats plain and simple panloloko.

FYI: these jackets are no longer available in regular retail shops in the philippines because of a law prohibiting the use of phil. flag elements in fashion and clothing apparels. But that doesnt mean these arent original ones. our supplier are simply shipping to the US-Canada and we are just pulling a few factory-priced units from their manufacturing to be sold here (same as mr. kiefer). any holier-than-thou person out there would demand legitimacy in terms of paying taxes and underpricing for our price (coz were selling at almost factory price), but it isnt the issue here– its the quality and authenticity, right? anyway, nobody is stopping you from buying the same thing in regular shops in the US. if you want these jackets or just curious on how the pics above differs from the ones we are selling, you may meet with me and see for yourself.
