Speculations Regarding the Eraserheads “One Night Only” Concert
There are speculations and I want to present some more regarding the Eraserheads‘ “One Night Only” Concert originally scheduled on August 30, 2008 at The Fort.
- What if this doesn’t fly as planned?
- What if it doesn’t push through, as we’ve all probably read somewhere else, because certain branches of our democratic government refuses to give the organizer the necessary permits they will need to get the concert ground running?
- What will happen to the thousands of eager fans awaiting this one-day-only event?
Pissed off. OK, that’s too strong a word LOL, or disheartened (there you go). That’s what a lot of Filipinos will be if in case this happens.
But what if:
- The event pushes through in the hands of another organizer?
- What if the original organizers had decided to throw in the towel?
- What if the private event now becomes, gasp, public?
- What if your chances of seeing the band you’ve listened to in your youth were given to you at arms reach if only you were to pay for admission?
Sounds impossible? Highly unlikely, yes, but not impossible if you think about the matter thoroughly. With only a few days to go before the originally scheduled concert date and with the great amount of work on logistics necessary to pull this massive project through, the organizers (old or new, whatever works) and the avid fans would surely need lots of one thing.
Luck.
Then again, there’s more to this concert than all the bad vibes that has been circulating along the lines of whether it will still push through, about the alleged screw-up of this particular PR agency, the fee the band got, the “dementors” Raimund referred to, and the reaction of the wanting-and-now-angry audience/fans/pang-gulo. If we look beyond the trivialities and at the more humane aspect of this exercise, maybe we can appreciate the efforts that the band themselves had invested. They still kept on rehearsing, something which they did not do in their past gigs as the Eraserheads (from the words of Marcus in an interview via pulse.ph). One of them even commutes to and from La Union to be in rehearsals. Some bought instruments and effects because of the one-time only gig. They have set aside their differences in order to give us a great show. It’s not anymore about the money. I mean, come on, it’s not as if they won’t need to pay for the studio during rehearsals, among other equally costly incidentals. The point is, for them to go through the length despite the turbulence, their driving force could only be the heart for the want to give their fans a great show.
Right now, in the absence of an official statement from the organizer, all we can do is wait.
Come on now, if you want this as bad as I do, give the Eraserheads a boost of good vibes. Shout with me people: I Want My Eraserheads “One Night Only” Concert!!!
That’s more like it.
Stay tuned Read about the latest for further developments here ;)

Seriously, though, I wouldn’t mind paying. In fact, I’d rather that, than it to be a public event. I’m not being all elitist here, but I’d rather there be some control than to just let any guy in a white sando and rambo slippers get in.

dear everybody,
after much ado. the eraserheads concert is most definitely pushing
through.
philip morris and its brands have pulled out from the concert. but
another company is taking over the production. the turn over started
yesterday and they have already started work on the site in the fort.
so you can check.
there are good news and bad news.
unfortunately its no longer free. all the long winded registration
procedures in the red nation site is now void.
the good news is that the age limit is now 12 years old (for safety
reasons)and tickets will be sold so you dont have to wait for
confirmation and what not.
the official announcement and ticketing details will come out in major
newspapers and on the radio on tuesday.
these are the only details i know for now so no need to email me. im
just the drummer.
btw. i just got home from the last rehearsal. the band is cooking. we
will see you all on the 30th

Noypi! Asa ka pa!
It’s all about the money nowadays, prior to the reunion concert, remember that ely buendia is rumored to have been offered P10M! pero P4M lang pala to be exact, as what the marlboro guy told sa goodtimes with mo & .. sa magic 89.9.
Sobra akong naexcite when i heard the news of a free reunion concert. i even registered sa red list ng marlboro kahit di talaga ako smoker. dat’s how desperate i am seeing eheads together again live.
pero wat hapend? tama lang naman ang doh kung tutuusin. sumikat pa tuloy tayo sa washington bcoz of the news re sponsorship ng cigarette factory sa beatles of the philippines concert (ito ngang eheads).
at that price!!! P1300!? for sure di pumayag c ely na hindi maibigay sa kanya what is due to him! kaya ang siningil, yung mga atat na fans!
parang caltex, shell at petron, yung burden ng pagtaas ng presyo ng gasolina pinapasa sa end-users without affecting their income.
that’s how the world goes…
sabi nga ni alicia keys, who strongly refused from a cigarette sponsorhip concert in indonesia…
“WHAT GOES AROUND, COMES AROUND…”
ALAPAAP
“MASDAN MO AKING BULSA, DI MO BA NAKIKITA?
AKO NGAYO’Y NAGHIHIRAP AT NASA IMPYERNO NA…
GUSTO MO BANG MAAWA?”
P.S. ELY, PLEASE MEAN WHAT YOU SAY WHEN YOU WILL SING THE SONG “PARA SA MASA”. SALAMAT!
