The Pet Society Cash Shop may have loads of exciting stuff but as the name of the store implies, you’d have to shell out REAL money in order to get your hands on them sweet goodies. Playfish Cash don’t come cheap, too. You’d have to use either your Visa/Master Credit Card, PayPal, or via this mode they call PayByCash/Ultimate Gamer Card, whatever that means. You can get 55 coins for US$9.99, 120 coins for US$19.99, and 260 coins for US$39.99. Since the Cash Shop has new items every week on Mondays, despite the ridiculous cost, believe it or not, fanatics do spend in order for them to get the latest cutesy stuff. It’s like fashion, only it’s virtual (or something like that LOL).
In the Pet Society forums, Playfish Cash has some other use. Those who were lucky enough to have played the game from last year have begun “selling” or “trading” their “rare” or “not-in-store” (NIS, in PS forum jargon) items, “this week special” (or TWS) things that they have accumulated in all their months of playing, in exchange for items from the Cash Shop. Items like the “Ice Throne” from Christmas can even go for as high as 45 Playfish Coins (or US$8)! Price depends on the deal players have agreed on while trading in the forums.
This is my secret, actually. I now have all Cash Shop items not because I buy Playfish Cash. I trade and I must say I’m pretty great at it already. Hah! LOL
Speaking of items, I had the gall to make this entry not in order to share about the inner workings in the dimly lit corners of the forums but in order to show off how the new “Chameleon” item from the Cash Shop works. It’s not as plain as it seems. Seeing it do its stuff got me so excited, I wanted to fill every inch of my 10-room PS mansion with it! This got you curious, didn’t? Here, I’ll show you.

See what I mean? Nifty ain’t it?! The Chameleon costs 15 Playfish Cash. Since I have 6 of these, I should have spent 90 Playfish Cash for my loot, yes? Mine cost me 1 Ice Throne, 1 Snowman, 1 Chocolate Log, 1 Pandoro, 1 Royal Party Wallpaper, 1 Royal Sparkling Fruit Juice, and 2 Gingerbread Man from several trades. Although this method of getting a Cash Shop item takes so much time, once you see all the stuff in your room/chest after a successful trade, it will all make sense.

When you buy something or anything from the Cash Shop, for now, buy it for yourself and it stays with you (can’t be gifted). Give it to someone else as gift directly from the Cash Shop and the recipient will not be able to gift it anew. You can only dispose of the item by selling or recycling it, but since this items was bought using real cash, why sell it? Haha. I hope I answered your question.

do you know what i should trade for for a 15 cash shop item? i asked someone to get me a chameleon but she is asking for hallween/xmas + 4999 items. is it to be 15 x 4999 items = chameleon?
i only kept a few of my xmas items, i wasnt in PS yet for halloween, but some friends gave me a black cat, monster couch, black duck…
ive 2 old jukes, 2 pianos, 2 dragon heads (CNY), ox doll, raindeer, valentine bears/cupid…
just not sure what to trade, and what is fair to trade…

In the forums, it’s all about VMs (visitor messages) and you track record for being a trader. If you are reliable or not. Sometimes, you may also just look out for other traders who want your stuff and who are willing to pay for what you want. Patience is often a key for this. If you are lucky, some will pay for more than what you bargained. Again, it takes a lot of trolling and monitoring. I hope you get your CCs soon.

Hey!!! I hope you can answer my question, well I’ve always wanted the chameleon too! I’m new doing the trading stuff, and my question to you is.. did u buy playfish cash over the forums or were u able to buy the chameleon directly?????? I think somebody told me it cannot be gifted… So I’m confused. Thank you! :)

It can only be gifted at the “point of purchase,” meaning, from the store, itself, the sender must gift the “cash shop item” to you at the point of purchase. Once received, you may never send it to anybody again. that’s what some meant by “it cannot be gifted.” I hope my answer’s clear enough. :)
