In couch-potato mode and having finished all fan-subbed Bleach episodes available, I found myself craving for more anime goodness. I near half-dragged my lazy-on-a-weekend-mode bum, went to my suking MCS store, and asked the store owner to give me suggestions.
“What’s hot,” I inquired, “aside from me and my being here?
“…
“Hey. HEY! Enough of the drooling and answer me already! I dun have all day!”
Long story short, I got the 12-episode Devil May Cry series plus, something off Mr. Owner’s hot hit list, Claymore.
I must say I got hooked after Claymore’s first episode. No wonder Mr. Owner said this title is one of the more salable currently! First shown in Japan as a 26-episode TV series starting only in April 2007, the story revolves on broad-sword wielding warrior women called Claymores, who do a splendidly rendered paid job of ridding towns and cities of evil, gut-eating monsters called Yoma. The series has a dark overall feel about it: none at all of the LOL moments from the likes of Devil May Cry, Law of Ueki, and Bleach nor an instance of a comic relief character like Ryuk in Death Note.
If it is fight scenes and sequences you want, Claymore has it right off the bat. What’s different though is you get to see strong and skilled women combat and slay great powerful monsters. Did I already mention that they can re-attach their severed appendages themselves when mangled? Some of them can even re-grow limbs. Such is their awesomeness, really. Something in the way the characters are intricately drawn reminds me of Otogi Zoushi: The Legend of Magatama, Basilisk, and Death Note.

If only I can get my DVD to eject from that brokinated DivX player so I can go on with watching this already! Bah!
