One in Spring and Nature

Waking up early on a Sunday to attend a wedding in Tagaytay scheduled at 9:15 am is something I would only do for people who are really close to my heart. I mean, COME-TF-ON, I slept late the previous night wailing at the top of my lungs just so “My Way,” “Leader of the Band,” and Jackson 5s “I Want You Back” can be rid of all the impurities tainting their reputation as the worst-songs-heard-while-sang-by-douches-in-KTV!

Jay Elloso and Monica Yupangco tied the knot, yes. The news of Monica getting married broke the hearts of more than half this planet’s male population. This statistical data includes 80% of PMs employees, both single and mostly married. MOVE ON people! Jeezas. If the way they swung their hips involuntarily during their first dance number as a couple does not give you that clue, then that world-record-breaking-time-for-longest-kiss on the altar should do it. Kidding guys. I love you and you know that.

They had a whole spring-theme going on for this event so everyone came either in linen shirts or floral dresses. Reception followed at Sonya’s Garden. Something with Sonya’s changed from the time Ainna and Conrad, my good friends, held their after-wedding grub there. Along side their signage that’s now visible from that long Tagaytay road, Sonya’s has put up a board with the name of the newly weds on it. Talk about personalized service. That and they recently did expansions to accommodate even more diners and guests. You would still have to call prior your visit for reservations, though.

With that, waking up early beats not ever witnessing this one-time-only event. Getting the chance to talk and meet former colleagues and friends made it even more worth the trip.

Here’s Monica before she proceeded to walk down the aisle and below’s a picture I took at the reception before we left.

Congratulations Jay and Monica! Have plenty of babies in Austria: where the hills are still purportedly alive with the sound of music (may be hear-say, citation needed)!

Lastly, something that will ultimately launch my Nat-Geo/Animal Planet photojournalistic career. Huzzah!

We were about to leave and I do not yet have a single photo of the couple. We approached them both while Mon was talking to other well-wishers. She was bent down and kiss-greeting an ex-colleague on the cheek when I pointed my cam at her to do auto-focus. About two seconds after, I pressed for a shot with no idea at all what I was going to get. Then that photo happened. I even thought I only got a blurry image. I’m glad the shot turned out the way it did.
